The Venue
Nestled in the heart of tranquility lies the enchanting High Valley Dawn Permaculture Farm – the sacred grounds for our Harvestival. Imagine a place where lush greenery dances with the gentle breeze, and where the energy of the land whispers stories of ancient wisdom. Join us on this journey and become one with the Valley, where nature's embrace awaits to rejuvenate your spirit. Your adventure begins here!
High Valley Dawn Permaculture Farm Yeppoon is a 140 acre permaculture oasis situated less than 10km from Yeppoon in Central Queensland. The farm features a lush 2 acre market garden, 2 acre food forest, a bush tucka food forest, various domestic animals and many more sustainable features, such as a subterranean earth fridge, natural desalination plant, and an aircrete dome just to name a few. Also the entire farm is solar powered The farm plays host to a small but mighty community of volunteers who live the self-sufficient lifestyle. Some stay for a short time, just dropping in on their journey, whilst others stay for the long haul, committed to the cause and happy with their place. The HVD community is stoked to be sharing their space with us to celebrate Harvestival this year - opening up the gardens, livestock yards and waterholes. The latest awesomeness to hit the farm is the rentable accommodation for guests - Glamping Tents & Tiny Homes!! Which means for the festival you too can live in style. Your Harvestival ticket includes free camping - however these accommodation options are added extras. Come and join us, have a blast and learn about what it's like to go off-grid! |
Feel the energy, connect with the land, and be part of a celebration that transcends time. Harvestival awaits you at High Valley Dawn Permaculture Farm, where the spirit of the Spring Equinox comes alive.

Spring Equinox
Embrace the rhythm of the Earth as we honor the Spring Equinox in the southern hemisphere, a time of balance, renewal, and the awakening of the natural world. At Harvestival, we draw inspiration from pagan traditions, celebrating the magic of this season when day and night share equal sway. Join our circle, where the bonfires blaze, drums echo through the valley, and spirits intertwine under the starlit sky. Let the spirits guide you on a mystical journey during this sacred time of the year.
The Spring Equinox officially marks the end of Winter promising fresh beginnings filled with sun-kissed days, new growth, and a fruitful season. Celebrations are plentiful during this time, and the traditions are longstanding.
Various countries honor the Spring Equinox in their own way based on customs and traditions. To name a few, there is the Holi Festival in India; in Persian culture, there are new year celebrations called Norooz; and, in Japan, there is Shunbun No Hi. Although each celebration is vastly different, they commonly rejoice in a new and prosperous season.
The Spring Equinox, also known as the Vernal Equinox, marks the first astronomical day of Spring for the Southern Hemisphere. On the same day in the Northern Hemisphere, it is the Autumnal Equinox.
The word “Equinox” translates to “equal night” in Latin, referring to how the day and night are approximately 12 hours each during the Equinox. This is due to the Earth’s axis tilting zero degrees in relation to the Sun which happens twice a year, once in March and once in September.
