3 Day Permaculture Retreat
Harvestival Deep-Dive
We are super excited to announce that this year, we will be hosting a 3 day retreat leading up to the event for those who want to dive a little deeper into their Harvestival experience. This retreat offers an opportunity for you to get a bucket load of practical, hands-on tips on a range of topics so you can kick off your own permaculture project as soon as possible.
The retreat will take place from Wednesday the 18th September to Friday the 20th September and includes camping as well as gluten free, dairy free, vegan meals for these days as well as a complimentary weekend pass to the weekend's festivities! Entry for retreat participants is from Tuesday 17th September from 2pm.
The cost for the retreat is $495 (plus booking fee).

Presenters
Rupert FaustTravelling from South East Queensland, Rupert Faust is an ex-Environmental Engineer turned Permaculturalist, and a man of many talents who is also the Founder of the Grounded Permaculture Action Party.
In Rupert's deep-dive day, he will be focusing on mainframe design, earthworks, water infrastructure, solar passive design and the permaculture zone system as well as doing a session on building community. |
Jane LittleJane is an engaging facilitator with a healthy skill set in practical permaculture. Her special interest areas are sharing how to recover nutrients and preserve resources by mastering humanure, composting and soils. She has a love of kitchen gardens and how to overcome hurdles with design, pests and human nature.
She has devoted herself to nurturing food gardens in schools and community gardens on the Sunshine Coast and brings all her experience to share. She will also be sharing skills with natural fiber weaving and propagation for beginners. |
Suveran DewsnapHailing from New Zealand, guest presenter Suvi will be showcasing the knowledge he has accumulated over 30 years of travelling and planting exotic trees.
In Suvi's deep-dive day, he will be focusing on food forestry, showing us the example of one of the many food forests he has started (at High Valley Dawn) and showing you how you can go from a rocky backyard to food forest abundance in a short period of time. |
Ken MasonAlso with over 30 years of fruit and vegetable farming experience, local legend Ken Mason is an expert at using a mixture of biodynamics, Integrated Pest Management & permaculture principles to maximise plant yield and quality without using harsh chemicals.
In Ken's deep dive day he will be focusing on composting, market gardening, integrated pest management and Biodynamics. |
Angie VinerAngie is a Permaculture Design Course graduate who has always had a connection to the natural world. Since joining the High Valley Dawn team over 1 year ago, Angie has taken on custodianship of the Bush Tucka Food forest as well as many other projects and also studied with Dr. Elaine Ingham to become a Soil Food Web Consultant.
During the retreat, Angie will be presenting on how we can work with beneficial microbes and fungi to improve soil health and the overall health of our garden. |
Ross O'ReillyHigh Valley Dawn Owner and Founder Ross O'Reilly has had over 30 years in the business world. From being a professional Rugby League Coach to the world of financial services, real estate, hotels, restaurants, wellness retreats and eventually the creation of this amazing 140 acre permaculture farm/community/education centre.
As part of the retreat, Ross will be hosting sessions focused on the story of the farm and teaching us how you can manifest your dreams. |
Mauri BadraMauri was born in Argentina, South America. After making his first steps as a film on the land where he was born, Mauri heard the call of Australia. Living in the Forest and diving in the Pacific Ocean changed forever his way of perceiving the natural world. He deeply connected with this Country Spirit and Wildlife. Engaging in regenerative actions is the way he feels he can contribute back.
Mauri’s dream is to be able to get these lessons and knowledge back to his birth land and contribute to heal and regenerate a shattered South America. Mauri has created EnvironmentArt Stories, a podcast documentary series where he engages with different permaculture, nature and cultural mentors. |
Ryko KalinkoRyko has been a practitioner of Yoga for 25 years and a teacher for 10 years, having studied with the esteemed yoga guru Maharishi Yogananda in India as well as other notable Western teachers such as David Swenson, Donna Farhi and Anna Forrest. He has worked extensively as a yoga teacher throughout the globe and has appeared in Vogue Magazine, Harper's Bazaar and Men's Health magazine.
Ryko will be leading our daily morning yoga and Qi Gong sessions as part of the retreat. |
Jan KovacInternational Chef Jan Kovak will again be teaming up again with our High Valley Dawn market gardeners to bring you the very best offerings from the paddock to the plate.
Originally from the Czech Republic, Jan has travelled the world, working in restaurants and retreat centres. Jan has now settled, taking up residency at High Valley Dawn where he can create seasonal delights for our restaurant, Beaches Rosslyn Bay. Jan will be heading up the kitchen coordinating a fully vegan, gluten free, dairy free menu for the three days as well as hosting a paddock-to-plate cooking class. |
